Diverse Urban Spaces

Our research
Human activities in physical and virtual spaces are the main and significant dynamics of future diverse urban human life. We analyze these human behaviours and activities in physical and virtual environments in space and time and use a cross-disciplinary research approach which will allow a broad discussion of relations and dynamics between humans, spaces, and flows.

The GPS surveys
A considerably part of the data we produce is based on GPS based surveys.
Using our surveys it is possible to ask location based and activity based and/or time based questions in real time.
Questions like, where are we? What are we doing and for how long time? And why are we doing what we do?

Ethical commitments
As participant you give the registration of your activities in real time and online.
During our survey you can always stop the registration of you activities.
If you choose to terminate your participation, we delete your data from our survey.

Hardware and software requirements
Since 2004 we have worked with GPS/GPRS units from care4all.
At the moment we use a PHP/MySQL server at Scannet to present data online and in real time.
We have chosen to show our work in Google Earth, Google Maps ArcGis.
